Connie Longwell, Chief Executive Officer
Connie brings over two decades of healthcare experience to her role. Commencing her journey at Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital (EVRH) in 2016 as the chief financial officer, she ascended to her current position as chief executive officer in 2019. In her capacity, she oversees the hospital’s leadership, business operations, and day-to-day management.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY, she completed her master’s degree in business administration with a healthcare concentration from the University of Phoenix.
Connie is dedicated to providing patients in Wyoming and neighboring regions with access to top-tier inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services tailored to their specific requirements. Her meticulous approach, coupled with her extensive background in finance, accounting, and management, equips her to effectively steer our hospital.
EVRH’s Guiding Principles resonate with her personal philosophy, emphasizing the importance of fostering robust teamwork and dedication to patient-centered outcomes. The cornerstone of success lies within the collective efforts of the team!
Outside of work, Connie enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, granddaughter, and other family and friends.
Dr. Ryan Swan, Inpatient Medical Director
Dr. Swan has always had a passion not only to serve others, but to lead teams that protect and heal those around him. His extensive medical background includes internships at National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. as well as a residency at Loyola University in Chicago.
A stint in military medicine included time as a surgeon on 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Okinawa, Japan, and as surgeon on the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron. It culminated in an Honorable Marine discharge in 2000.
Dr. Swan earned a medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He has been board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation for more than 16 years.
Dr. Swan enjoys leading the treatment team in delivering a personalized and progressive rehabilitation program.
Dr. Carlos Buckner, Outpatient Medical Director
Dr. Buckner loves reaching out into the community where he can forge relationships with patients, field staff, and young people. His extensive medical background includes a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as chief resident.
Board Certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation since 2012, Dr. Buckner is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Association of Academic Physiatrists. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
In his free time, Dr. Buckner serves his community as a youth leader in the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints and as an assistant scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America.
Carrie Clark, Director of Therapy Operations
Carrie is committed to life-long learning and encouraging quality, state-of-the-art, and patient-centered therapeutic services for everyone who walks through our doors. She specializes in geriatric care and myofascial release, and has dedicated thousands of treatment hours to help her patients reach their goals. Her responsibility is to oversee inpatient and outpatient therapy operations.
Carrie earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of North Dakota satellite program in Casper, WY. She has spent the past 20 years gaining experience in long-term acute care, inpatient rehab, home health, and acute care services.
Born and raised in Casper, Carrie returned to work as a staff therapist, was promoted to lead therapist, and now serves EVRH as the director of therapy operations. She is proud of her Wyoming roots and excited for her new role in supporting the success of our therapists and our patients. She prides herself in her mentorship abilities and has given back to the OT field by mentoring new graduates and students throughout the years.
Carrie loves helping others and is committed to our therapy department to make sure your loved ones are in the best hands possible.
Dan Davis, Director of Pharmacy Operations
Dan is passionate about the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients.
Dan has been in the pharmacy field for more than 17 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo., followed by a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Wyoming in 2003.
Dan serves as a pharmacy preceptor for the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy, as well as adjunct faculty for the School of Pharmacy for a three-year term.
Tamara Thomson, Chief Nursing Officer
Tamara Thomson joined the Elkhorn team in 2022 with an extensive background in acute care Surgery and Neurology. She grew up in Wyoming, attending Casper College and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Wyoming. She went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership and Management from Western Governer’s University.
Tamara is dedicated to providing patient-centered care to all patients, and seeing each patient holistically. She sees rehabilitation nursing as a privilege, and watching patients overcome health setbacks is very rewarding. She believes making meaningful connections with patients is helpful for healing the mind, body and soul.
Tamara’s greatest passion is building high performing, innovative patient care teams through trust, collaboration, and patient safety. Leadership has been her calling. Building a culture of integrity, respect, and kindness are essential to a strong team.
Tamara enjoys spending time with her 3 children, watching football, and playing with her two Golden Retrievers Echo and Halo.
Anne Thorpen, Director of Marketing and Business Development
Anne graduated in 1992 from The University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of business administration and a major in marketing. After 12 years of healthcare sales, she joined Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in 2009 to lead the marketing team of clinical liaisons in their pursuit of educating others on the IRF level of care and the exceptional care and outcomes of EVRH. Anne will go the extra mile, literally and figuratively, to introduce and represent EVRH to patients and healthcare providers seeking world-class post-acute care.
As a Wyoming native, Anne loves the sense of hope and healing that Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital brings to her home state and surrounding areas. She is passionate about people, effective communication, strong teamwork, and a positive patient experience. When not keeping busy with her leadership and clinical liaison team, Anne enjoys time with her many siblings and friends, husband, Jim, sons, Cole and Connor, and lovable black lab, Murphy.
Viki Kincaid, Area Director of Human Resources
Viki has been in Humans Resources for over ten years and joined Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in 2021. She is passionate about employee engagement and retention. Viki believes in treating our employees and patients with dignity and respect. She concentrates on making EVRH the place employees want to come to work every day.
In her spare time, Viki likes to ride motorcycles, golf, camp, and spend time with her family.
Angela Schirmer, RN, Director of Compliance
Angie embarked on her professional journey at Elkhorn in 2011 as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). Inspired by the exceptional skills exhibited by her peers, she was motivated to pursue a career in nursing. This ambition drove her to acquire her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in 2015, followed by attaining Registered Nurse (RN) status in 2016. Known for her fervent dedication to patient care, Angie finds fulfillment in rehabilitation services and collaborative teamwork aimed at restoring patients’ independence. Her pursuit of excellence was further reinforced in 2019 with the achievement of the Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse title. This dedication was acknowledged in 2021 when she was honored as a finalist for the esteemed Casper Star Tribune Top 10 Nurses in Wyoming. Angie’s passion is fueled by her capacity to deliver outstanding care and empower patients through educational support.
In October 2023, Angie assumed the role of Director of Compliance, signaling a new chapter in her professional trajectory. She is resolutely dedicated to continual growth and learning, aspiring to serve her hospital and community in a more profound capacity.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Angie cherishes moments spent with her children and her canine companion. She finds joy in various activities such as weightlifting, boxing, camping, hiking, and indulging in music. Notably, she also operates a small embroidery business, showcasing her diverse interests and talents.
Sage Brooks, Director of Patient Outcomes
Sage plays a pivotal role in guiding care coordination and discharge planning within the case management team to ensure our clients receive exceptional, safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care.
A native of Wyoming, specifically Casper, Sage graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1997 (Go Pokes!). In 2001, she obtained a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
Her professional journey commenced in acute care and rehabilitation settings, spanning Colorado and Wyoming for six years before joining the original EVRH team as the Director of Therapy in 2007. Sage has since dedicated 17 years to EVRH, serving as a staff physical therapist and clinical liaison.
With a steadfast commitment to delivering compassionate patient care and driving positive outcomes, Sage looks forward to making further contributions as the Director of Patient Outcomes.
During her leisure time, she finds joy in the company of friends and family, including her two children, Jackson and Harper. Sage also has a passion for photography and loves exploring new destinations through travel.
Steven Rohrer, Director of Facilities Management
Steven joined our team in 2017, initially serving as a maintenance technician. With several years of experience in both the construction and oil field sectors, he brought a strong maintenance background to his role. Transitioning to the position of Director of Facilities in 2023, Steven and his team prioritize creating a secure environment for patients and staff, emphasizing safety for all visitors to the facility.
As a fourth-generation Wyoming native, he finds solace in outdoor pursuits, often spending time in the mountains with loved ones.
